Dr. Förster AG: "Reloading the brand"
Hamburg, Neu-Isenburg, Aachen – Optimism at the Dr. Förster brand management: the restructuring has been completed, the new management from Hamburg sees excellent market potential for the traditional company, which specializes in natural-based pharmaceuticals, high-quality cosmetics and modern dietary supplements. They are waiting with ambitious goals – and are using the time to develop further products in the laboratory. Since 1927, cosmetics and natural-based pharmaceuticals have been manufactured under the Dr. Förster brand. The enterprise was created by the Leipziger physician Dr. Walter Förster, who has successfully developed the mark together with the Neu-Isenburger tradesman Franz Köhler. The company has been based in Neu-Isenburg since the post-war years and has survived turbulent times.
Finally, there was been created a top-class and sales-strong team around the Hamburg tradesman Ralph Thelen, who took over the traditional brand and integrated it into his various companies. The new beginning has been a success. “The brand is experiencing enormous demand, especially from abroad,” says brand owner Ralph Thelen. “We want to continue developing it. Here, a consistent ´Made in Germany´ is applied in development and production. And we uncompromisingly rely on highly innovative active ingredients and finest raw materials. Often from controlled organic farming”.
In addition to the head office in Hamburg and the previous laboratory and production site in Aachen, the new boss is also putting all his faith in the Neu-Isenburg site near Frankfurt, for which Ralph Thelen has a lot of praise in his luggage. On the 10,000 square metre company premises at the Dornhofstraße, highly experienced employees are currently working in production, research and development. The company offers a three-figure product range. First and foremost the Dr. Förster brand: innovative formulations with highly effective ingredients with a strong focus on anti-aging.

- high-quality hyaluronic acid and
- high-end stem cells technologies.
“Our horse care series Equestrian is also a bestseller. But we also have excellent products for riders. For example, a highly innovative sun protection range that absorbs quickly, does not burn in the eyes and without any ´whitening-effect´. One of our export hits is the horse balm series with its beneficial effect on the human musculature,” says Ralph Ecks. The portfolio also includes production of cosmetics and dietary supplements for other brands and markets. In our laboratories, we also develop for other companies at home and abroad. Most of our sales are generated abroad: in premium department stores, pharmacy chains, airports, etc. The two largest German food retail chains, EDEKA and Rewe, the discount store Netto, Metro C&C and other cash & carry stores such as Globus and C+C Schaper are also supplied with additional brands. And with Karstadt, consumers can find us in the pedestrian zone. The team has also distributed on TV during a successful QVC appearance. Most recently, the company achieved eight-digit annual sales.
