Vitamin C serum: morning or night?

In short: Most people use a vitamin C serum in the morning. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and works well under day cream and sunscreen. Above all, use it regularly.

Why in the morning?

During the day your skin is exposed to sun and environmental influences. Antioxidants like vitamin C therefore fit well into the morning routine, as a step before cream and sunscreen. That leaves the evening free for other care, such as vitamin A.

Can I use it at night too?

Yes. If you are short on time in the morning or prefer to take care of your skin in the evening, you can also use vitamin C at night. If you use a retinol product in the evening, it is usually more comfortable for the skin to split the two between morning and evening.

How to use a vitamin C serum

  1. Cleanse your face.
  2. Apply a few drops of serum to your face and neck and massage in gently.
  3. Follow with a day cream.
  4. Finish with sunscreen.

Which forms of vitamin C are there?

  • Ascorbic Acid: pure vitamin C, the classic form.
  • Ascorbyl Phosphate: a vitamin C derivative that is more stable than pure ascorbic acid.
  • Partners: vitamin E (Tocopherol) and ferulic acid (Ferulic Acid) are often combined with vitamin C.

Vitamin C reacts with light and air. Close the bottle after each use and store it cool and dark.

Our Vitamin C Serum

The carefully composed Dr. Förster Anti-Aging Vitamin C Serum combines two forms of vitamin C, Ascorbyl Phosphate and Ascorbic Acid, with hyaluronic acid, vitamin E and ferulic acid. The base is carefully selected organic aloe vera juice, with no added water. As recommended, apply it every morning after cleansing to your face and neck.

Almost a century of experience. A standard that endures.

Frequently asked questions

Can I combine vitamin C and hyaluronic acid?

Yes. Many vitamin C serums already contain hyaluronic acid, including ours.

Can I use vitamin C and retinol together?

The easiest way is to split them: vitamin C in the morning, retinol in the evening.

How can I tell my vitamin C serum has gone off?

A clear change in colour or smell is a sign that the vitamin C has reacted. Check the period-after-opening symbol on the pack.

Do I still need sunscreen?

Yes. A vitamin C serum does not replace sunscreen.
